As an interdisciplinary scholar and publicly engaged writer, she wrote articles that were published in peer-reviewed journals such as Political and Legal Anthropology Review and general media outlets such as Mada Masr and Bloomberg Businessweek. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York and a B.A. in journalism from the American University in Cairo.
