He previously taught at the American University of Cairo, and served as research associate at the IRD (<em>Institut de Recherche pour le développement - Paris</em>) et the CEDEJ (<em>Centre d’Etudes et de Documentation Juridiques et Sociales - Cairo</em>). His research focuses on the social geography of Tunisia and Egypt, specifically on the questions of food sovereignty, sustainability, marginality and poverty, women in rural areas, social changes, and the dynamics and processes of resistance. </span></p><p class="x">	<span style="background:white">Among his publications: </span>“<em>Food Insecurity and Revolution in the Middle East and North Africa: Modernisation and Agrarian Questions in Egypt and Tunisia</em>”, with Ray Bush (2018); “<em>Agrarian Transformation in the Arab World: Persistent and Emerging Challenges</em>”, with R. Saad (2013);<em>“Marginality and marginalization in Tunisia; Saida Manoubia in Tunis and Zrig in Gabes”</em> (2013); “<em>Marginality and Exclusion In Egypt</em>” with Ray Bush (2012); “<em>Water in the Arab Countries; global perceptions and local realities</em>” with T.
