Albanese is an international lawyer and researcher on human rights and refugee issues in the MENA region. She has been appointed UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory in 2022.</p><p>	She is a Research Affiliate at the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) at Georgetown University and at the Issam Fares Institute at the American University of Beirut. From 2003 to 2013, she worked for UNRWA (UN Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East), UNDP and the UN OHCHR.
